It is estimated that 4.6 billion people worldwide are using mobile phones. With a growing industry in mobile marketing, businesses of all sizes may want to begin to explore their options if they haven’t already. To get started a look at case studies will demonstrate key objectives. Good examples can be found on mobile marketer where they focus on seven factors: 1) duration of campaign, 2) short code and sms keywords, 3) objective, 4) target audience, 5) strategy, 6) call to action, and 7) tactics.
How to plan a targeted mobile marketing campaign, a blog post by Ori Nakar, identifies the ways in which mobile phones create a unique communication channel e.g. brands can engage with individuals in a direct and personal way. Nakar cautions however that any dialogue between the brand and individual should be “relevant and tailored as much as possible to each consumer.” He suggests three important considerations for creating campaigns:
1) Make data collection a goal, 2) Personalize campaign, and 3) Stay informed about technological advancements and regulatory changes from the Mobile Marketing Association and the Federal Communications Commission. Nakar states, “Both can have a major impact on how best to communicate with your target audience.”
